What is the length and frequency of sessions?
All therapy sessions are held virtually and are 55 minutes in length. The frequency of sessions is typically one time per week, however, there are times when you and I will agree that less or more frequent sessions are needed.
How much is a session fee?
A 55 minute therapy session is $175.
What forms of payment do you accept?
A debit or credit card is required to secure payment which is charged at the end of each session.
What is your cancellation policy?
If you do not show up for your scheduled therapy appointment, and you have not notified me at least 24 hours in advance, you will be required to pay the full cost of the session.
Do you bill insurance?
I am able to submit claims on your behalf to Medicare Insurance Plan B. For all other insurance carriers, I am an Out-of-Network provider. I encourage you to call your insurance company and ask if they accept out-of-network providers based upon your coverage as well as inquire what percentage they will reimburse you for. Most insurance companies require a “superbill” from the therapist which specifies the type, duration and date of service provided. I can provide a bimonthly or monthly superbill, if requested. Please be aware through selecting to use out-of-network providers, you are responsible for paying my fee of $175 per hour up front and then submitting the superbill to request your reimbursement directly from the insurance company. If you have questions or concerns regarding any of this information, please feel free to call or email me at any time.
Will insurance cover my therapy session fee?
To determine if you have mental health coverage through your insurance carrier, the first thing you should do is call them. Services may be covered in full or in part by your health insurance or employee benefit plan. Check your coverage carefully and make sure you understand their answers. Some helpful questions you can ask them:
Do I have mental health insurance benefits?
What are my mental health benefits?
What is the coverage amount per therapy session?
How many therapy sessions per year does my plan cover?
Will teletherapy services be covered?
What is my deductible and has it been met?
How much does my insurance pay for an out-of-network provider?
Is approval required from my primary care physician?
What happens during therapy?
Therapy begins with one to two initial intake appointments, during which you, the client, describes what brings you to therapy. The presenting problem/s are identified and together an individualized treatment plan will be developed. This plan will identify specific goals, developed together, that will assist in the progression of therapy. As the client, the goals of therapy and the treatment plan are in your control. For instance, an unforeseen stressor occurs which takes precedence over what we are currently working on. A new goal could be added to the treatment plan or a completely new treatment plan may need to be developed. Maintaining a treatment plan with clear goals allows us to regularly review the progress being achieved during therapy as well as ensure that therapy is time limited. The goal of therapy is for you to become so good at identifying and addressing your thoughts, emotions and behaviors that you will no longer need me and can become your own therapist.
